The Lantern

Psalms5

To the choirmaster, to Nehiloth. A psalm of David. Give ear to my sayings, LORD; understand my murmuring.

Give Ear to My Words

Listen to the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God — for to you I pray.

LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I set it out for you, and I watch.

For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil does not sojourn with you.

The boastful do not take their stand before your eyes; you hate all workers of iniquity.

You destroy those who speak a lie; a man of blood and deceit the LORD abhors.

But I — in the abundance of your loyal love I will come into your house; I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.

LORD, lead me in your righteousness, because of those who watch me; make your way straight before me.

For there is nothing right in his mouth; their inward part is destruction. Their throat is an open grave; they make their tongue smooth.

Hold them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own counsels. Cast them out in the abundance of their transgressions, for they have rebelled against you.

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing aloud forever, and may you shelter over them; and let those who love your name exult in you.

For you bless the righteous, LORD; like a shield you surround him with favor.
