Leviticus23

Feasts and Sabbaths

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them: The appointed times of the LORD, which you shall proclaim as holy assemblies — these are my appointed times.

Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day is a sabbath of complete rest, a holy assembly; you shall do no work. It is a sabbath to the LORD in all your dwellings.

Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread

These are the appointed times of the LORD, holy assemblies, which you shall proclaim at their appointed time:

In the first month, on the fourteenth of the month, between the two evenings, is the Passover to the LORD.

And on the fifteenth day of this month is the Festival of Unleavened Bread to the LORD; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.

On the first day you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laboring work.

And you shall bring near a fire offering to the LORD seven days. On the seventh day is a holy assembly; you shall do no laboring work.”

The Feast of Firstfruits

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them: When you come into the land that I am giving you, and you reap its harvest, you shall bring an omer of the first of your harvest to the priest.

And he shall wave the omer before the LORD, for your acceptance; on the day after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.

And on the day you wave the omer, you shall offer a lamb without blemish, a year old, as a burnt offering to the LORD,

with its grain offering: two tenths of fine flour mixed with oil, a fire offering to the LORD, a soothing aroma; and its drink offering of wine, a quarter of a hin.

And bread, and roasted grain, and fresh ears you shall not eat until this very day, until you bring the offering of your God — a statute forever throughout your generations, in all your dwellings.

The Feast of Weeks

And you shall count for yourselves, from the day after the sabbath, from the day you brought the omer of the wave offering: seven complete sabbaths there shall be.

Until the day after the seventh sabbath you shall count fifty days; and you shall bring near a new grain offering to the LORD.

From your dwellings you shall bring two loaves of bread as a wave offering — of two tenths of fine flour they shall be, baked with leaven — firstfruits to the LORD.

And with the bread you shall bring near seven lambs without blemish, a year old, and one young bull, and two rams; they shall be a burnt offering to the LORD, with their grain offering and their drink offerings — a fire offering of a soothing aroma to the LORD.

And you shall offer one male goat as a sin offering, and two lambs a year old as a sacrifice of peace offerings.

And the priest shall wave them, with the bread of the firstfruits, as a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs; they shall be holy to the LORD, for the priest.

And you shall proclaim on this very day a holy assembly for yourselves; you shall do no laboring work — a statute forever in all your dwellings, throughout your generations.

And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not finish off the corner of your field in your reaping, and the gleanings of your harvest you shall not gather; for the poor and for the sojourner you shall leave them. I am the LORD your God.”

The Feast of Trumpets

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Speak to the sons of Israel: In the seventh month, on the first of the month, you shall have a day of complete rest, a remembrance with trumpet blasts, a holy assembly.

You shall do no laboring work; and you shall bring near a fire offering to the LORD.”

The Day of Atonement

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Surely on the tenth of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy assembly for you, and you shall afflict your souls; and you shall bring near a fire offering to the LORD.

And you shall do no work on this very day — for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement for you before the LORD your God.

For every soul who is not afflicted on this very day shall be cut off from her people.

And every soul who does any work on this very day — I will destroy that soul from the midst of her people.

You shall do no work — a statute forever throughout your generations, in all your dwellings.

It is a sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall afflict your souls. On the ninth of the month, in the evening — from evening to evening — you shall keep your sabbath.”

The Feast of Tabernacles

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Speak to the sons of Israel: On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the Festival of Booths, seven days to the LORD.

On the first day is a holy assembly; you shall do no laboring work.

Seven days you shall bring near a fire offering to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy assembly, and you shall bring near a fire offering to the LORD; it is a solemn gathering — you shall do no laboring work.

These are the appointed times of the LORD, which you shall proclaim as holy assemblies, for bringing near a fire offering to the LORD — burnt offering and grain offering, sacrifice and drink offerings, each day’s matter on its day —

besides the sabbaths of the LORD, and besides your gifts, and besides all your vows, and besides all your freewill offerings that you give to the LORD.

Surely on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you gather in the produce of the land, you shall keep the festival of the LORD seven days; on the first day a complete rest, and on the eighth day a complete rest.

And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of a splendid tree, fronds of palms, and a branch of a leafy tree, and willows of the stream; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.

And you shall keep it as a festival to the LORD seven days in the year — a statute forever throughout your generations; in the seventh month you shall keep it.

In booths you shall live seven days; every native in Israel shall live in booths —

so that your generations may know that I made the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”

And Moses declared the appointed times of the LORD to the sons of Israel.
