I Timothy2

A Call to Prayer

I encourage therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings be made on behalf of all men,

for kings and all those being in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

This is good and acceptable before God our Savior,

who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

For God is one, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

who gave himself a ransom for all — the testimony in its own times,

in regard to which I myself was appointed a herald and an apostle — I speak the truth, I do not lie — a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

I desire therefore that the men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands apart from anger and dissension.

Instructions to Women

Likewise also women, adorning themselves in respectable apparel with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly clothing,

but with what is becoming to women professing the fear of God, through good works.

Let a woman learn in quietness in all submission.

But I do not permit a woman to teach nor to use authority over a man, but to be in quietness.

For Adam was formed first, then Eve;

and Adam was not deceived, but the woman, having been deceived, has come into transgression.

But she will be saved through the childbearing, if they abide in faith and love and holiness with self-restraint.
