II Corinthians9

God Loves a Cheerful Giver

For concerning the ministry to the saints it is superfluous for me to write to you;

for I know your readiness, about which I boast to the Macedonians on your behalf, that Achaia has been prepared since a year ago, and your jealousy has provoked the greater number.

But I sent the brothers, so that our boasting about you might not be made void in this matter, so that, just as I was saying, you may be prepared;

lest perhaps, if Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we should be put to shame — that I may not say you — in this confidence.

Therefore I counted it necessary to encourage the brothers that they go before to you and complete beforehand your previously promised blessing, so that it may be ready as a blessing and not as covetousness.

Now this: the one sowing sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one sowing upon blessings will also reap upon blessings.

Each one as he has purposed in the heart, not out of grief or out of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in everything always, you may abound to every good work.

Just as it is written: “He scattered abroad, he gave to the poor; his righteousness abides to the age.”

Now the one supplying seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and will increase the fruits of your righteousness,

being enriched in every way to all sincerity, which produces through us thanksgiving to God;

for the ministry of this service is not only completely filling up what is lacking to the saints, but is also abounding through many thanksgivings to God.

Through the proof of this ministry they glorify God for the submission of your confession to the gospel of the Christ, and for the sincerity of the partnership toward them and toward all,

and by their supplication for you, longing for you because of the surpassing grace of God upon you.

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift.
