Ezekiel7

The Hour of Doom

And the word of the LORD came to me, saying:

And you, son of man — thus says the Lord GOD to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.

Now the end is upon you, and I will send my anger against you and judge you according to your ways, and I will set upon you all your abominations.

And my eye will not pity you, and I will not spare; for I will set your ways upon you, and your abominations will be in your midst; and you will know that I am the LORD.

Thus says the Lord GOD: An evil, a single evil — see, it comes.

An end has come, the end has come; it has awakened against you — see, it comes.

The doom has come upon you, dweller of the land. The time has come, the day is near — tumult, and not the shouting of the mountains.

Now, from close by, I will pour out my wrath on you and finish my anger against you, and judge you according to your ways, and I will set upon you all your abominations.

And my eye will not pity, and I will not spare. According to your ways I will set upon you, and your abominations will be in your midst; and you will know that I am the LORD who strikes.

See, the day! See, it comes. The doom has gone out; the rod has blossomed, insolence has budded.

Violence has risen into a rod of wickedness. Not from them, and not from their multitude, and not from their tumult; and there is no wailing among them.

The time has come, the day has arrived. Let the buyer not rejoice and the seller not mourn, for burning anger is upon all her multitude.

For the seller will not return to what was sold, even while they are still alive; for the vision concerns all her multitude — it will not turn back — and no one will strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.

The Desolation of Israel

They have blown the blast and made everything ready, and no one goes to the battle; for my burning anger is upon all her multitude.

The sword outside, and pestilence and famine inside. The one in the field will die by the sword, and the one in the city — famine and pestilence will devour him.

And their escapees will escape and be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, each in his iniquity.

All hands will go slack, and all knees will run with water.

And they will gird on sackcloth, and shuddering will cover them; and on all faces, shame, and on all their heads, baldness.

Their silver they will cast into the streets, and their gold will be an impurity. Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them on the day of the fury of the LORD. They will not satisfy their soul or fill their bowels, for it was the stumbling block of their iniquity.

And the splendor of his ornament — he set it up for pride; and the images of their abominations, their detestable things, they made in it. Therefore I have made it an impurity for them.

And I will give it into the hand of strangers as plunder, and to the wicked of the earth as spoil, and they will profane it.

And I will turn my face from them, and they will profane my treasured place; and violent men will come into it and profane it.

Make the chain, for the land is full of the judgment of blood, and the city is full of violence.

And I will bring the evil ones of the nations, and they will possess their houses; and I will make the pride of the strong cease, and their holy places will be profaned.

Anguish has come, and they will seek peace, and there is none.

Disaster upon disaster will come, and report upon report will be; and they will seek a vision from a prophet, and instruction will perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.

The king will mourn, and the leader will be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land will be terrified. According to their way I will do to them, and by their own judgments I will judge them; and they will know that I am the LORD.
