And you, son of man, take yourself a sharp sword — take it for yourself as a barber razor — and pass it over your head and over your beard; and take yourself scales for weighing, and divide them.
A third you will burn in fire in the midst of the city when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and you will take a third and strike it with the sword all around her; and a third you will disperse to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them.
And you will take from there a few in number and bind them in your skirts.
And from these you will take again, and cast them into the midst of the fire and burn them in the fire; from it a fire will go out to all the house of Israel.
Thus says the Lord GOD: This is Jerusalem. In the midst of the nations I have set her, and lands around her.
And she has rebelled against my judgments more wickedly than the nations, and against my statutes more than the lands around her; for they have rejected my judgments, and my statutes — they have not walked in them.
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have raged more than the nations around you, and in my statutes you have not walked and my judgments you have not done — and you have not even done according to the judgments of the nations around you —
therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See, I too am against you, and I will do judgments in your midst before the eyes of the nations.
And I will do in you what I have not done, and the like of which I will not do again, because of all your abominations.
Therefore fathers will eat sons in your midst, and sons will eat their fathers; and I will do judgments in you, and I will disperse all your remnant to every wind.
Famine, Sword, and Dispersion
Therefore, as I live — the utterance of the Lord GOD — surely, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things and with all your abominations, I too will cut away, and my eye will not pity, and I too will not spare.
A third of you will die by the pestilence and be finished by the famine in your midst; and a third will fall by the sword around you; and a third I will disperse to every wind, and I will draw out a sword after them.
And my anger will be finished, and I will let my wrath rest on them, and I will be eased; and they will know that I the LORD have spoken in my zeal, when I finish my wrath on them.
And I will make you a ruin and a reproach among the nations around you, before the eyes of everyone passing by.
And it will be a reproach and a reviling, a discipline and a waste to the nations around you, when I do judgments in you in anger and in wrath and in rebukes of wrath. I the LORD have spoken.
When I send against them the evil arrows of famine, which are for destruction — which I will send to destroy you — I will gather famine against you and break your staff of bread.
And I will send against you famine and evil beasts, and they will bereave you; and pestilence and blood will pass through you, and I will bring the sword upon you. I the LORD have spoken.
