The Lantern

Ezekiel47

Waters from under the Temple

And he brought me back to the opening of the house; and see: water going out from under the threshold of the house eastward, for the face of the house is east; and the water was going down from under the right shoulder of the house, south of the altar.

And he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around the outside way to the outer gate, the way of the one facing east; and see: water trickling from the right shoulder.

When the man went out eastward with a line in his hand, he measured a thousand by the cubit and made me pass through the water — water of the ankles.

And he measured a thousand and made me pass through the water — water of the knees. And he measured a thousand and made me pass through — water of the loins.

And he measured a thousand — a stream that I could not pass through, for the water had risen, water for swimming, a stream that could not be passed through.

And he said to me: Have you seen, son of man? And he led me and brought me back to the edge of the stream.

When I came back, see: at the edge of the stream, very many trees on this side and on that.

And he said to me: This water is going out to the eastern region and going down over the Arabah and coming to the sea; to the sea it is brought out, and the water is healed.

And every living soul that swarms, wherever the double stream comes, will live; and the fish will be very many, because this water has come there and they are healed; and everything lives where the stream comes.

And fishermen will stand by it from En-gedi to En-eglaim; a spreading place for nets they will be. By their kind their fish will be, like the fish of the Great Sea, very many.

Its swamps and its marshes will not be healed; they are given over to salt.

And by the stream, on its edge on this side and on that, will grow every tree for food. Its leaf will not wither and its fruit will not fail; month by month it will bear first fruit, because its water goes out from the sanctuary. And its fruit will be for food, and its leaf for healing.

The Borders of the Land

Thus says the Lord GOD: This is the border by which you will inherit the land, for the twelve tribes of Israel — Joseph, portions.

And you will inherit it, each like his brother, concerning which I lifted my hand to give it to your fathers; and this land will fall to you as an inheritance.

And this is the border of the land. For the north side: from the Great Sea, the way of Hethlon, to the coming to Zedad,

Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazer-hatticon, which is by the border of Hauran.

And the border from the sea will be Hazar-enon, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side.

And the east side: from between Hauran and Damascus and Gilead and the land of Israel, the Jordan; from the border to the eastern sea you will measure. And this is the east side.

And the Negev side, toward Teman: from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, the stream to the Great Sea. And this is the side toward Teman, southward.

And the west side: the Great Sea, from the border until opposite the coming to Hamath. This is the west side.

And you will divide this land for yourselves, by the tribes of Israel.

And it will be that you will make it fall as an inheritance for yourselves and for the sojourners sojourning in your midst, who have fathered sons in your midst; and they will be to you like a native among the sons of Israel. With you they will have it fall as an inheritance, in the midst of the tribes of Israel.

And it will be that in the tribe where the sojourner sojourns, there you will give his inheritance, the utterance of the Lord GOD.
