The Lantern

Ezekiel41

Inside the Temple

And he brought me to the temple and measured the pilasters: six cubits in breadth on this side and six cubits in breadth on that side — the breadth of the tent.

And the breadth of the opening, ten cubits; and the shoulders of the opening, five cubits on this side and five cubits on that side. And he measured its length, forty cubits, and the breadth, twenty cubits.

And he went inward and measured the pilaster of the opening, two cubits; and the opening, six cubits; and the breadth of the opening, seven cubits.

And he measured its length, twenty cubits, and the breadth, twenty cubits, before the temple. And he said to me: This is the Holy of Holies.

Outside the Temple

And he measured the wall of the house, six cubits; and the breadth of the side chamber, four cubits, all around the house on every side.

And the side chambers, side chamber upon side chamber, three and thirty times; and they went into the wall belonging to the house, for the side chambers all around, so as to be held fast; but they were not held fast in the wall of the house.

And it widened and wound higher and higher to the side chambers, for the winding of the house went higher and higher all around the house; therefore the breadth of the house was upward, and so the lowest went up to the highest by the middle.

And I saw the house had a raised base all around; the foundations of the side chambers were a full reed, six cubits to the joint.

The breadth of the wall belonging to the side chamber, toward the outside, five cubits; and what was left open was the place of the side chambers belonging to the house.

And between the chambers, a breadth of twenty cubits around the house on every side.

And the opening of the side chamber was toward what was left open: one opening the way of the north and one opening to the south; and the breadth of the place left open, five cubits all around.

And the building that was before the separate area, on the side the way of the sea, was seventy cubits in breadth; and the wall of the building, five cubits in breadth all around; and its length, ninety cubits.

And he measured the house: a hundred cubits in length; and the separate area and the structure and its walls, a hundred cubits in length.

And the breadth of the face of the house and of the separate area toward the east, a hundred cubits.

The Interior Structures

And he measured the length of the building before the separate area that was behind it, and its galleries on this side and on that, a hundred cubits; and the inner temple, and the porches of the court;

the sills and the closed windows and the galleries all around, on their three sides, opposite the sill, panelled with wood all around; and the ground up to the windows; and the windows were covered.

Above the opening and as far as the inner house, and outside, and on all the wall all around, inside and outside — by measure.

And it was made with cherubim and palms, and a palm between cherub and cherub; and two faces to the cherub:

the face of a man toward the palm on this side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm on that side. It was made throughout the house on every side.

From the ground to above the opening the cherubim and the palms were made, and on the wall of the temple.

The temple: a doorpost squared; and before the holy place, the appearance was like the appearance.

The altar was of wood, three cubits high, and its length two cubits; and it had its angles; and its length and its walls were of wood. And he spoke to me: This is the table that is before the LORD.

And two doors to the temple and to the holy place.

And two leaves to the doors, two turning leaves: two to one door and two leaves to the other.

And made on them, on the doors of the temple, were cherubim and palms, as they were made on the walls; and a thick beam of wood was on the face of the porch outside.

And closed windows and palms on this side and on that, at the shoulders of the porch, and the side chambers of the house, and the thick beams.
