The Lantern

Exodus39

The Ephod

And from the blue and the purple and the scarlet yarn they made finely worked garments for ministering in the holy place; and they made the holy garments that were for Aaron, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And he made the ephod of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet yarn and fine twisted linen.

And they hammered out sheets of gold, and he cut threads to work into the blue and into the purple and into the scarlet yarn and into the fine linen — the work of a skilled weaver.

They made shoulder pieces for it, joined together; at its two ends it was joined.

And the woven band of his ephod that was on it was of one piece with it, of the same workmanship: of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet yarn and fine twisted linen — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And they made the onyx stones, enclosed in settings of gold, engraved with the engravings of a seal according to the names of the sons of Israel.

And he set them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, as stones of remembrance for the sons of Israel — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

The Breastpiece

And he made the breastpiece, the work of a skilled weaver, like the work of the ephod: of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet yarn and fine twisted linen.

It was square; doubled over they made the breastpiece — a span its length and a span its width, doubled.

And they filled it with four rows of stone: a row of ruby, topaz, and emerald was the first row;

and the second row: turquoise, sapphire, and diamond;

and the third row: jacinth, agate, and amethyst;

and the fourth row: beryl, onyx, and jasper — enclosed in settings of gold in their fillings.

And the stones were according to the names of the sons of Israel, twelve according to their names — like the engravings of a seal, each according to his name, for the twelve tribes.

And they made on the breastpiece chains like cords, of corded work, of pure gold.

And they made two settings of gold and two rings of gold, and put the two rings on the two ends of the breastpiece.

And they put the two gold cords in the two rings at the ends of the breastpiece;

and the two ends of the two cords they put on the two settings, and set them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, at its front.

And they made two rings of gold and set them on the two ends of the breastpiece, on its edge that faces the ephod on the inside.

And they made two rings of gold and put them on the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, low down at its front, close to its seam, above the woven band of the ephod.

And they bound the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a cord of blue, so that it stayed on the woven band of the ephod, and the breastpiece did not come loose from the ephod — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Additional Priestly Garments

And he made the robe of the ephod, the work of a weaver, all of blue,

with the opening of the robe in the middle of it, like the opening of a coat of mail, with an edge around its opening, so that it would not tear.

And they made on the hem of the robe pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet yarn, twisted.

And they made bells of pure gold, and put the bells between the pomegranates on the hem of the robe all around, between the pomegranates:

a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate, on the hem of the robe all around, for ministering — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And they made the tunics of fine linen, the work of a weaver, for Aaron and for his sons,

and the turban of fine linen, and the ornamented headpieces of fine linen, and the linen undergarments of fine twisted linen,

and the sash of fine twisted linen and blue and purple and scarlet yarn, the work of an embroiderer — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And they made the medallion of the holy crown of pure gold, and wrote on it an inscription, like the engravings of a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD.

And they put on it a cord of blue, to fasten it on the turban above — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Moses Approves the Work

And all the work of the Dwelling of the Tent of Meeting was finished; and the sons of Israel did according to all that the LORD had commanded Moses — so they did.

And they brought the Dwelling to Moses: the tent and all its vessels — its clasps, its frames, its crossbars, and its pillars and its bases;

and the covering of rams’ skins dyed red, and the covering of fine leather skins, and the veil of the screen;

the ark of the testimony and its poles, and the atonement cover;

the table, all its vessels, and the bread of the Presence;

the pure lampstand, its lamps — the lamps in their row — and all its vessels, and the oil for the light;

and the altar of gold, and the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense, and the screen for the door of the tent;

the altar of bronze with its bronze grating, its poles and all its vessels; the basin and its stand;

the hangings of the courtyard, its pillars and its bases, and the screen for the gate of the courtyard, its cords and its pegs, and all the vessels for the service of the Dwelling, for the Tent of Meeting;

the finely worked garments for ministering in the holy place — the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, for serving as priests.

According to all that the LORD had commanded Moses, so the sons of Israel did all the work.

And Moses saw all the work — and look, they had done it; as the LORD had commanded, so they had done. And Moses blessed them.
