Exodus40

Setting Up the Tabernacle

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“On the day of the first month, on the first of the month, you shall raise up the Dwelling of the Tent of Meeting.

And you shall set there the ark of the testimony, and screen the ark with the veil.

And you shall bring in the table and arrange what is arranged on it; and you shall bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.

And you shall put the altar of gold for incense before the ark of the testimony, and set up the screen of the door for the Dwelling.

And you shall put the altar of burnt offering in front of the door of the Dwelling of the Tent of Meeting.

And you shall put the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water there.

And you shall set up the courtyard all around, and put up the screen of the gate of the courtyard.

And you shall take the anointing oil and anoint the Dwelling and all that is in it; and you shall consecrate it and all its vessels, and it shall be holy.

And you shall anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its vessels; and you shall consecrate the altar, and the altar shall be a holy of holies.

And you shall anoint the basin and its stand, and consecrate it.

And you shall bring Aaron and his sons near to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and wash them with water.

And you shall clothe Aaron with the holy garments; and you shall anoint him and consecrate him, and he shall serve me as priest.

And his sons you shall bring near and clothe with tunics.

And you shall anoint them as you anointed their father, and they shall serve me as priests; and their anointing shall be for them a priesthood forever throughout their generations.”

And Moses did it; according to all that the LORD had commanded him, so he did.

And it happened in the first month, in the second year, on the first of the month, that the Dwelling was raised up.

And Moses raised up the Dwelling, and put down its bases, and set up its frames, and put in its crossbars, and raised up its pillars.

And he spread the tent over the Dwelling, and put the covering of the tent over it, above — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And he took the testimony and put it into the ark, and set the poles on the ark, and put the atonement cover on top of the ark.

And he brought the ark into the Dwelling, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And he put the table in the Tent of Meeting, on the north side of the Dwelling, outside the veil.

And he arranged on it the row of bread before the LORD — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And he set the lampstand in the Tent of Meeting, opposite the table, on the south side of the Dwelling.

And he set up the lamps before the LORD — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And he set the altar of gold in the Tent of Meeting, before the veil.

And he burned fragrant incense on it — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And he set up the screen of the door for the Dwelling.

And the altar of burnt offering he set at the door of the Dwelling of the Tent of Meeting; and he offered up on it the burnt offering and the grain offering — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And he set the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water there for washing.

And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet from it.

When they went into the Tent of Meeting, and when they came near the altar, they washed — as the LORD had commanded Moses.

And he raised up the courtyard all around the Dwelling and the altar, and put up the screen of the gate of the courtyard. And Moses finished the work.

The Cloud and the Glory

And the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the Dwelling.

And Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the Dwelling.

And whenever the cloud went up from over the Dwelling, the sons of Israel would set out, in all their journeys;

but if the cloud did not go up, then they did not set out — until the day it went up.

For the cloud of the LORD was over the Dwelling by day, and fire was in it by night, before the eyes of all the house of Israel, in all their journeys.
