Thus saysthe LORDto me, Goand getyou a linenbelt, and putit upon your loins, and putit not in water.
So I gota beltaccording to the wordof the LORD,and putiton my loins.
And the wordof the LORDcame to me the second time, saying,
Takethe beltthat you have got, whichisupon your loins, and arise, goto Euphrates, and hideit there in a holeof the rock.
So I went, and hidit by Euphrates,as the LORDcommandedme.
And it happened aftermanydays, that the LORDsaidto me, Arise, goto Euphrates, and takethe beltfrom there, which I commandedyou to hidethere.
Then I wentto Euphrates, and dug,and tookthe beltfrom the placewhere I had hidit: and indeed, the beltwas marred,it was profitablefor nothing.
Then the wordof the LORDcame to me, saying,
Thus saysthe LORD,After this manner will I marthe prideof Judah, and the greatprideof Jerusalem.
This evilpeople, which refuseto hearmy words, which walkin the imaginationof their heart, and walkafterothergods,to servethem, and to worshipthem, shall even be as this belt, which is goodfor nothing.
For as the belt clings to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cling to me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, says the LORD; that they might be to me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
