The oracle of the word of the LORD concerning Israel — the utterance of the LORD, who stretches out the heavens and founds the earth and forms the spirit of man within him.
The Coming Deliverance of Jerusalem
See, I am making Jerusalem a basin of reeling for all the peoples around; and against Judah also it will be, in the siege against Jerusalem.
And it will be in that day: I will make Jerusalem a stone of burden for all the peoples; all who load themselves with it will surely be gashed. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against her.
In that day — the utterance of the LORD — I will strike every horse with bewilderment and its rider with madness; and over the house of Judah I will open my eyes, and every horse of the peoples I will strike with blindness.
And the chiefs of Judah will say in their heart: Strength for me are the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in the LORD of hosts their God.
In that day I will make the chiefs of Judah like a basin of fire among wood and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they will devour on the right and on the left all the peoples around. And Jerusalem will dwell again in her own place, in Jerusalem.
And the LORD will save the tents of Judah first, so that the splendor of the house of David and the splendor of the inhabitant of Jerusalem may not be magnified over Judah.
In that day the LORD will shield over the inhabitant of Jerusalem; and the one stumbling among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David like God, like the angel of the LORD before them.
And it will be in that day: I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
Mourning the One They Pierced
And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitant of Jerusalem a spirit of favor and pleas for grace; and they will look to me — the one whom they pierced — and they will lament over him as one laments over an only son, and be bitter over him as one is bitter over a firstborn.
In that day the lamentation in Jerusalem will be great, like the lamentation of Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.
And the land will lament, family by family apart: the family of the house of David apart and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart and their wives apart;
the family of the house of Levi apart and their wives apart; the family of the Shimeites apart and their wives apart;
all the families that remain, family by family apart, and their wives apart.
