Revelation of John21

A New Heaven and a New Earth

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea is no longer.

And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And I heard a great voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will tabernacle with them, and they themselves will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them as their God.

And he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will be no longer, nor mourning nor crying nor pain will be any longer; because the former things have passed away.”

And the one sitting on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And he says, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.”

And he said to me, “It has been done! I myself am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I myself will give to the one thirsting of the spring of the water of life freely.

The one overcoming will inherit these things, and I will be God to him, and he himself will be a son to me.

But to the cowardly and to the unbelieving and to those having made themselves abominable, and to murderers and to the sexually immoral and to sorcerers and to idolaters and to all the liars — their portion is in the lake which is burning with fire and with brimstone, which is the second death.”

The New Jerusalem

And one of the seven angels who have the seven bowls which are full of the seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and he showed me the holy city Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God,

having the glory of God. Its radiance was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

having a great and high wall, having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names inscribed, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel;

on the east three gates, and on the north three gates, and on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.

And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

And the one speaking with me had a measuring reed, golden, so that he may measure the city and its gates and its wall.

And the city lies foursquare, and its length the same as also the width. And he measured the city with the reed at twelve thousand stadia; its length and breadth and height are equal.

And he measured its wall, one hundred forty-four cubits, the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

And the structure of its wall was jasper, and the city pure gold, like clear glass.

The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every precious stone: the first foundation jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,

the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.

And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the gates was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, as translucent glass.

And I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty is its temple, and the Lamb.

And the city has no need of the sun nor of the moon, that they may shine in it; for the glory of God enlightened it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

And the nations will walk through its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory into it.

And its gates will certainly not be shut by day; for night will not be there.

And they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.

And anything unsanctified will certainly not enter into it, nor the one practicing abomination and a lie, except those written in the book of life of the Lamb.
