The Lantern

Psalms9

To the choirmaster, upon Almuth-labben. A psalm of David. I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart; I will recount all your wonders.

I Will Give Thanks to the LORD

I will be glad and exult in you; I will make music to your name, Most High.

When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish before your face.

For you have done my judgment and my case; you have sat on the throne, judging righteously.

You have rebuked the nations, you have destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name forever and ever.

The enemy — they are finished, ruins forever; and you have uprooted cities; the memory of them has perished.

But the LORD sits forever; he has established his throne for judgment.

And he himself judges the world in righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness.

And the LORD is a high tower for the crushed, a high tower in times of distress.

And those who know your name trust in you, for you have not forsaken those who seek you, LORD.

Make music to the LORD, who sits in Zion; declare among the peoples his deeds.

For the one who requires blood has remembered them; he has not forgotten the cry of the afflicted.

Be gracious to me, LORD; see my affliction from those who hate me — you who lift me from the gates of death,

so that I may recount all your praises in the gates of the daughter of Zion; I will rejoice in your salvation.

The nations have sunk in the pit they made; in the net they hid, their own foot is caught.

The LORD is known; he has done judgment; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

The wicked will return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God.

For the needy will not be forgotten forever; the hope of the afflicted will not perish for all time.

Rise up, LORD; let a mortal not be strong; let the nations be judged before your face.

Set, LORD, a terror over them; let the nations know that they are but mortals. Selah.
