The Lantern

Psalms45

To the choirmaster. Upon the Lilies. Of the sons of Korah. A maskil. A song of loves. My heart is stirred with a good word; I say, “My works are for a king”; my tongue is the pen of a ready scribe.

My Heart Is Stirred by a Noble Theme

You are more beautiful than the sons of man; grace is poured on your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.

Gird your sword on the thigh, mighty one — your splendor and your majesty.

And in your majesty ride on prosperously for the cause of truth and humility and righteousness; and let your right hand teach you fearful things.

Your arrows are sharpened — peoples fall under you — in the heart of the king’s enemies.

Your throne, God, is forever and ever; a scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.

You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your companions.

Myrrh and aloes and cassia are all your garments; from ivory palaces stringed instruments have made you glad.

Daughters of kings are among your precious ones; the queen stands at your right hand in gold of Ophir.

Hear, daughter, and see, and stretch out your ear; and forget your people and your father’s house.

And let the king desire your beauty, for he is your lord — so bow down to him.

And the daughter of Tyre with a gift — the rich of the people will seek your face.

All glorious is the king’s daughter within; her clothing is of gold brocade.

In embroidered work she is led to the king; the virgins behind her, her companions, are brought to you.

They are led with gladness and rejoicing; they enter the palace of the king.

In place of your fathers will be your sons; you will set them as princes in all the earth.

I will make your name remembered in every generation and generation; therefore peoples will give you thanks forever and ever.
