Micah2

Woe to Oppressors

Woe to those devising iniquity and working evil on their beds! In the light of the morning they do it, because it is in the power of their hand.

And they covet fields and seize them, and houses and take them away; and they oppress a man and his house, a man and his inheritance.

Therefore thus says the LORD: See, I am devising evil against this family, from which you will not remove your necks; and you will not walk upright, for it is an evil time.

In that day one will take up a proverb against you and wail a bitter wailing. He will say, “We are utterly devastated. He exchanges the portion of my people — how he removes it from me! To the faithless he apportions our fields.”

Therefore you will have no one casting a measuring line by lot in the assembly of the LORD.

Reproof of False Prophets

“Do not preach,” they preach. They will not preach of these things; the disgraces will not turn back.

Is it to be said, house of Jacob, “Is the spirit of the LORD short? Are these his deeds?” Do not my words do good with the one walking upright?

But yesterday my people rose up as an enemy. From off the garment you strip the robe, from those passing by in security, turned back from war.

The women of my people you drive out from the house of her luxury; from her children you take my splendor forever.

Rise and go, for this is not the resting place, because of the uncleanness that ruins — and the ruin is severe.

If a man walking in wind and falsehood lies, “I will preach to you of wine and of strong drink,” he would be the preacher of this people.

The Remnant of Israel

I will surely gather Jacob, all of you; I will surely assemble the remnant of Israel. I will set them together like sheep in a fold, like a flock in the midst of its pasture — they will be noisy with people.

The one breaking through has gone up before them; they have broken through and passed the gate and gone out by it. And their king passes before them, and the LORD at their head.
