The Lantern

John14

In My Father’s House Are Many Rooms

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me myself.

In the house of My Father there are many mansions — but if not, I would have told you — that I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I shall go and shall prepare a place for you, I am coming again and I will receive you to Myself, that where I myself am, you yourselves also may be.

And to the place I myself am going you know the way.”

The Way, the Truth, and the Life

Thomas says to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going; how can we know the way?”

Jesus says to him, “I myself am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

If you have known Me, also My Father you will know; and from now you know Him and you have seen Him.”

Philip says to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”

Jesus says to him, “So long a time am I with you, and you have not known Me, Philip? The one having seen Me myself, he has seen the Father; how say you yourself, ‘Show us the Father’?

Do you not believe that I myself am in the Father and the Father is in Me myself? The declarations that I myself say to you I do not speak from Myself; but the Father dwelling in Me myself does His works.

Believe Me that I myself am in the Father and the Father in Me myself; but if not, believe because of the works themselves.

Amen, amen, I say to you, the one believing in Me myself, the works that I myself do he also will do, and greater than these he will do, because I myself am going to the Father.

And whatever you may ask in My name, this will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

If you shall ask Me anything in My name, I myself will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

If you shall love Me, you will keep My commandments.

And I myself will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you to the age,

the Spirit of truth, whom the world is not able to receive, because it does not see Him nor know. But you yourselves know Him, for He abides with you and He will be in you.

I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.

Yet a little while, and the world no longer sees Me; you yourselves, however, see Me. Because I myself live, you yourselves also will live.

In that very day you yourselves will know that I myself am in My Father, and you yourselves in Me myself, and I myself in you.

The one having My commandments and keeping them, he is the one loving Me; now the one loving Me, he will be loved by My Father, and I myself will love him and I will show Myself to him.”

Judas — not the Iscariot — says to Him, “Lord, and what has occurred that You are about to manifest Yourself to us and not to the world?”

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone shall love Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and we will come to him and we will make a home with him.

The one not loving Me does not keep My words; and the word that you hear, it is not Mine but the Father’s, the One having sent Me.

These things I have said to you, abiding with you;

the Helper, however, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and He will bring to remembrance all things that I myself have said to you.

Peace I Leave with You

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not even as the world gives, I myself give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor should it fear.

You heard that I myself said to you, ‘I am going away and I am coming to you.’ If you were loving Me, you would then have rejoiced that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I.

And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it may happen, you may believe.

No longer will I speak much with you; for the ruler of the world comes, and in Me myself he has nothing,

but that the world may know that I love the Father, and even as the Father has commanded Me, thus I do. Rise up, let us go from here.”
