The Divisions of the Gatekeepers
For the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.
And Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.
And Obed-edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethanel the fifth,
Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth — for God had blessed him.
And to Shemaiah his son were born sons who ruled in the house of their father — for they were mighty men of valor.
The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, and Rephael, and Obed, Elzabad, whose brothers were men of valor — Elihu, and Semachiah.
All these were of the sons of Obed-edom — they and their sons and their brothers, men of valor with strength for the service: sixty-two of Obed-edom.
And Meshelemiah had sons and brothers, men of valor: eighteen.
And Hosah, of the sons of Merari, had sons: Shimri the head — for though he was not the firstborn, his father set him as head —
Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth. All the sons and brothers of Hosah: thirteen.
To these divisions of the gatekeepers, to the heads of the men, fell watches corresponding to their brothers, to minister in the house of the LORD.
And they cast lots, small and great alike, by the houses of their fathers, for gate after gate.
And the lot for the east fell to Shelemiah. And for Zechariah his son, a counselor with insight, they cast lots; and his lot went out for the north.
For Obed-edom, the south; and for his sons, the storehouse.
For Shuppim and for Hosah, the west, with the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway — watch corresponding to watch.
On the east, six Levites; on the north, four for the day; on the south, four for the day; and at the storehouse, two by two.
At the colonnade on the west: four at the highway, two at the colonnade.
These are the divisions of the gatekeepers, of the sons of the Korahite and of the sons of Merari.
The Treasurers, Officers, and Judges
And the Levites: Ahijah was over the treasuries of the house of God, and over the treasuries of the holy things.
The sons of Ladan — the sons of the Gershonite, of Ladan, heads of the fathers of Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli.
The sons of Jehieli: Zetham, and Joel his brother, over the treasuries of the house of the LORD.
Of the Amramite, of the Izharite, of the Hebronite, of the Uzzielite:
Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was overseer over the treasuries.
And his brothers, by Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomoth his son.
This Shelomoth and his brothers were over all the treasuries of the holy things that King David, and the heads of the fathers, the commanders of the thousands and the hundreds, and the commanders of the army had consecrated —
from the wars and from the plunder they had consecrated them, to strengthen the house of the LORD —
and all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah had consecrated: all that was consecrated was under the hand of Shelomoth and his brothers.
Of the Izharite: Chenaniah and his sons were for the outside work over Israel, as officers and as judges.
Of the Hebronite: Hashabiah and his brothers, men of valor, a thousand seven hundred, were over the oversight of Israel from across the Jordan westward, for all the work of the LORD and for the service of the king.
Of the Hebronite: Jerijah was the head of the Hebronites, by the generations of his fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought out, and there were found among them mighty men of valor at Jazer of Gilead.
And his brothers, sons of valor: two thousand seven hundred heads of the fathers. And King David appointed them over the Reubenite, and the Gadite, and the half-tribe of the Manassite, for every matter of God and matter of the king.
