II Thessalonians2

The Man of Lawlessness

Now we implore you, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him,

that you not be quickly shaken in mind nor troubled, neither through a spirit nor through a word nor through a letter as if from us, as that the day of the Lord has come.

Let no one deceive you in any way, because it will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

who opposes and exalts himself above everything called god or object of worship, so that he sits in the temple of God, setting himself forth that he is God.

Do you not remember that when I was still with you I was saying these things to you?

And now you know what restrains him, so that he may be revealed in his own time.

For the mystery of lawlessness is already working; only he who now restrains will do so until he is out of the way.

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth and will annul by the appearing of his coming —

whose coming is according to the working of Satan, with all power and signs and wonders of falsehood,

and with all deceit of unrighteousness for those perishing, in return for which they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

And because of this God sends them a working of error, so that they believe what is false,

that all may be judged who did not believe the truth but delighted in unrighteousness.

Stand Firm

But we ought to give thanks to God always concerning you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits for salvation, in sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth,

to which he also called you through our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So then, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, whether through a word or through a letter from us.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace,

encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.
