II Kings15

Azariah Reigns in Judah

In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam, king of Israel, Azariah the son of Amaziah, king of Judah, became king.

He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jecoliah, from Jerusalem.

And he did the upright in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that Amaziah his father had done.

Only, the high places were not removed; the people were still sacrificing and burning incense at the high places.

And the LORD struck the king, and he had tzaraath until the day of his death; and he lived in a house set apart. And Jotham, the son of the king, was over the household, judging the people of the land.

And the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did — are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

And Azariah lay down with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David; and Jotham his son became king in his place.

Zechariah Reigns in Israel

In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah, king of Judah, Zechariah the son of Jeroboam became king over Israel in Samaria — six months.

And he did the evil in the eyes of the LORD, as his fathers had done; he did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, by which he caused Israel to sin.

And Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and struck him down before the people and put him to death; and he became king in his place.

And the rest of the acts of Zechariah — look, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

This was the word of the LORD that he spoke to Jehu, saying, “Sons of the fourth generation shall sit for you on the throne of Israel.” And so it was.

Shallum Reigns in Israel

Shallum the son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah, king of Judah; and he reigned a month of days in Samaria.

And Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah and came to Samaria; and he struck down Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria and put him to death, and became king in his place.

And the rest of the acts of Shallum, and his conspiracy that he conspired — look, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

Then Menahem struck Tiphsah, and all who were in it, and its territory, from Tirzah — because it did not open to him; and he struck it, and all its pregnant women he ripped open.

Menahem Reigns in Israel

In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah, king of Judah, Menahem the son of Gadi became king over Israel — ten years, in Samaria.

And he did the evil in the eyes of the LORD; he did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, by which he caused Israel to sin, all his days.

Pul, king of Assyria, came against the land; and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, so that his hands might be with him to make the kingdom firm in his hand.

And Menahem brought out the silver from Israel — from all the mighty men of wealth — to give to the king of Assyria: fifty shekels of silver for each man. And the king of Assyria turned back, and did not stay there in the land.

And the rest of the acts of Menahem, and all that he did — are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

And Menahem lay down with his fathers; and Pekahiah his son became king in his place.

Pekahiah Reigns in Israel

In the fiftieth year of Azariah, king of Judah, Pekahiah the son of Menahem became king over Israel in Samaria — two years.

And he did the evil in the eyes of the LORD; he did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, by which he caused Israel to sin.

And Pekah the son of Remaliah, his officer, conspired against him, and struck him down in Samaria, in the citadel of the house of the king — with Argob and Arieh, and with him fifty men of the sons of the Gileadites. And he put him to death, and became king in his place.

And the rest of the acts of Pekahiah, and all that he did — look, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

Pekah Reigns in Israel

In the fifty-second year of Azariah, king of Judah, Pekah the son of Remaliah became king over Israel in Samaria — twenty years.

And he did the evil in the eyes of the LORD; he did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, by which he caused Israel to sin.

In the days of Pekah, king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, came and took Ijon, and Abel-beth-maacah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee — all the land of Naphtali; and he exiled them to Assyria.

And Hoshea the son of Elah conspired a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and struck him down and put him to death; and he became king in his place, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.

And the rest of the acts of Pekah, and all that he did — look, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

Jotham Reigns in Judah

In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, Jotham the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, became king.

He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.

And he did the upright in the eyes of the LORD; according to all that Uzziah his father had done, he did.

Only, the high places were not removed; the people were still sacrificing and burning incense at the high places. He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD.

And the rest of the acts of Jotham that he did — are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.

And Jotham lay down with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Ahaz his son became king in his place.
