II Chronicles5

The Ark Enters the Temple

And all the work that Solomon did for the house of the LORD was completed. And Solomon brought in the holy things of David his father — the silver, and the gold, and all the vessels he put in the treasuries of the house of God.

Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers of the sons of Israel, to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the city of David — that is, Zion.

And all the men of Israel assembled to the king at the feast — that is, the seventh month.

And all the elders of Israel came; and the Levites carried the ark.

And they brought up the ark, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent — the priests, the Levites, brought them up.

And King Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel gathered to him before the ark, were sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted or numbered for abundance.

And the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, to the inner sanctuary of the house, to the holy of holies — under the wings of the cherubim.

And the cherubim were spreading wings over the place of the ark; and the cherubim covered over the ark and over its poles, from above.

And the poles were long, and the heads of the poles could be seen from the ark at the front of the inner sanctuary, but they could not be seen outside. And it has been there to this day.

There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses had placed there at Horeb, where the LORD cut a covenant with the sons of Israel when they went out from Egypt.

And it was, as the priests went out from the holy place — for all the priests who were present had consecrated themselves, without keeping to divisions —

and the Levites, the singers, all of them — Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and their brothers — clothed in fine linen, with cymbals and with harps and lyres, standing east of the altar, and with them a hundred and twenty priests sounding trumpets —

and it was, as the trumpeters and the singers were as one, to sound one voice in praising and giving thanks to the LORD — and as the voice rose with the trumpets, and with the cymbals, and with the instruments of song, and in praising the LORD, “For he is good — for his loyal love is forever” — that the house was filled with a cloud, the house of the LORD;

and the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud — for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.
