A Prophecy against Mount Seir
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying:
Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir and prophesy against it.
And say to it: Thus says the Lord GOD: See, I am against you, Mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against you and make you a desolation and a waste.
Your cities I will make a ruin, and you will be a desolation; and you will know that I am the LORD.
Because you had an everlasting enmity and handed the sons of Israel over to the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, at the time of the iniquity of the end —
therefore, as I live, the utterance of the Lord GOD, I will make you blood, and blood will pursue you. Since you did not hate blood, blood will pursue you.
And I will make Mount Seir an utter desolation, and I will cut off from it the one going out and the one returning.
And I will fill its mountains with its slain; your hills and your valleys and all your ravines — those slain by the sword will fall in them.
Everlasting desolations I will make you, and your cities will not be restored; and you will know that I am the LORD.
Because you said: The two nations and the two lands will be mine, and we will possess them — and the LORD was there —
therefore, as I live, the utterance of the Lord GOD, I will act according to your anger and according to your jealousy, which you acted out of your hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them when I judge you.
And you will know that I am the LORD. I have heard all your scorn that you spoke against the mountains of Israel, saying: They are desolate; to us they are given for food.
And you boasted against me with your mouth and multiplied your words against me. I myself have heard.
Thus says the Lord GOD: While all the earth rejoices, I will make you a desolation.
As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you. A desolation you will be, Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it; and they will know that I am the LORD.
