Ezekiel11

Evil in High Places

And a spirit lifted me and brought me to the eastern gate of the house of the LORD, the one facing east; and see, at the opening of the gate, twenty-five men. And I saw among them Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, officials of the people.

And he said to me: Son of man, these are the men devising iniquity and counselling evil counsel in this city,

who say: It is not near — let us build houses. She is the pot, and we are the flesh.

Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, son of man.

And the spirit of the LORD fell on me, and he said to me: Say, thus says the LORD: So you have said, house of Israel; and what rises in your spirit — I myself know it.

You have multiplied your slain in this city and filled her streets with the slain.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Your slain, whom you have set in her midst — they are the flesh, and she is the pot; and you he will bring out from her midst.

You have feared the sword, and a sword I will bring upon you — the utterance of the Lord GOD.

And I will bring you out from her midst and give you into the hand of strangers, and I will do judgments among you.

By the sword you will fall; at the border of Israel I will judge you, and you will know that I am the LORD.

She will not be a pot for you, and you will not be the flesh in her midst; at the border of Israel I will judge you.

And you will know that I am the LORD — you who have not walked in my statutes and have not done my judgments, but have done according to the judgments of the nations around you.

A Promise of Restoration

And it was, as I prophesied, that Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. And I fell on my face and cried out with a great voice and said: Ah, Lord GOD! Are you making a full end of the remnant of Israel?

And the word of the LORD came to me, saying:

Son of man, your brothers — your brothers, the men of your redemption — and all the house of Israel, all of it, are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said: Keep far from the LORD; to us this land is given as a possession.

Therefore say: Thus says the Lord GOD: Though I have put them far off among the nations, and though I have scattered them through the lands, yet I have been for them a small sanctuary in the lands where they have come.

Therefore say: Thus says the Lord GOD: And I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you from the lands where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

And they will come there and remove all her detestable things and all her abominations from her.

And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh,

so that they walk in my statutes and keep my judgments and do them. And they will be my people, and I will be their God.

But those whose heart walks after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations — their way I have set on their head, the utterance of the Lord GOD.

God’s Glory Leaves Jerusalem

And the cherubim lifted their wings, and the wheels alongside them, and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood on the mountain that is east of the city.

And a spirit lifted me and brought me to Chaldea, to the exile, in the vision by the spirit of God; and the vision that I had seen went up from me.

And I spoke to the exile all the words of the LORD that he had shown me.
