Garments for the Priests
And you — bring near to yourself Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from the midst of the sons of Israel, to serve me as priest: Aaron; Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron.
And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty.
And you shall speak to all the wise-hearted, whom I have filled with a spirit of wisdom, and they shall make Aaron’s garments, to consecrate him to serve me as priest.
And these are the garments they shall make: a breastpiece, and an ephod, and a robe, and a checkered tunic, a turban, and a sash. And they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and for his sons, to serve me as priest.
And they shall take the gold, and the blue, and the purple, and the scarlet yarn, and the fine linen.
The Ephod
And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet yarn and fine twisted linen, the work of a skilled weaver.
It shall have two shoulder pieces joined to its two ends, so that it is joined together.
And the woven band of the ephod that is on it shall be of the same workmanship, of one piece with it: of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet yarn and fine twisted linen.
And you shall take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel:
six of their names on the one stone, and the names of the remaining six on the second stone, in the order of their birth.
With the work of a stone engraver, like the engravings of a seal, you shall engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel; you shall make them enclosed in settings of gold.
And you shall set the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, as stones of remembrance for the sons of Israel. And Aaron shall carry their names before the LORD on his two shoulders, for remembrance.
And you shall make settings of gold,
and two chains of pure gold; like cords you shall make them, of corded work — and you shall put the corded chains on the settings.
The Breastpiece
And you shall make a breastpiece of judgment, the work of a skilled weaver; like the work of the ephod you shall make it — of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet yarn and fine twisted linen you shall make it.
It shall be square, doubled over — a span its length and a span its width.
And you shall fill it with a setting of stones, four rows of stone: a row of ruby, topaz, and emerald shall be the first row;
and the second row: turquoise, sapphire, and diamond;
and the third row: jacinth, agate, and amethyst;
and the fourth row: beryl, and onyx, and jasper. They shall be enclosed in gold in their settings.
And the stones shall be according to the names of the sons of Israel, twelve according to their names — like the engravings of a seal, each according to his name they shall be, for the twelve tribes.
And you shall make on the breastpiece chains like cords, of corded work, of pure gold.
And you shall make on the breastpiece two rings of gold, and put the two rings on the two ends of the breastpiece.
And you shall put the two gold cords into the two rings at the ends of the breastpiece;
and the two ends of the two cords you shall attach to the two settings, and put them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, at its front.
And you shall make two rings of gold and set them on the two ends of the breastpiece, on its edge that faces the ephod on the inside.
And you shall make two rings of gold and put them on the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, low down at its front, close to its seam, above the woven band of the ephod.
And they shall bind the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a cord of blue, so that it stays on the woven band of the ephod, and the breastpiece does not come loose from the ephod.
And Aaron shall carry the names of the sons of Israel in the breastpiece of judgment over his heart when he goes into the holy place — for remembrance before the LORD always.
And into the breastpiece of judgment you shall put the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be over Aaron’s heart when he goes in before the LORD. And Aaron shall carry the judgment of the sons of Israel over his heart before the LORD always.
Additional Priestly Garments
And you shall make the robe of the ephod all of blue.
And the opening for his head shall be in the middle of it; its opening shall have a woven edge all around, like the opening of a coat of mail — it shall not tear.
And you shall make on its hem pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet yarn, on its hem all around, and bells of gold between them all around:
a bell of gold and a pomegranate, a bell of gold and a pomegranate, on the hem of the robe all around.
And it shall be on Aaron for his ministering; and its sound shall be heard when he goes into the holy place before the LORD and when he comes out — so that he does not die.
And you shall make a medallion of pure gold, and engrave on it, like the engravings of a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD.
And you shall put it on a cord of blue, and it shall be on the turban; at the front of the turban it shall be.
And it shall be on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron shall bear the iniquity of the holy things that the sons of Israel consecrate, in all their holy gifts. And it shall be on his forehead always, for acceptance for them before the LORD.
And you shall weave the tunic in checkered work of fine linen, and you shall make a turban of fine linen, and a sash you shall make, the work of an embroiderer.
And for Aaron’s sons you shall make tunics, and you shall make sashes for them, and headpieces you shall make for them, for glory and for beauty.
And you shall clothe Aaron your brother with them, and his sons with him; and you shall anoint them, and fill their hands, and consecrate them, and they shall serve me as priests.
And make linen undergarments for them, to cover naked flesh; from the waist to the thighs they shall reach.
And they shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they go into the Tent of Meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister in the holy place, so that they do not bear iniquity and die — a statute forever for him, and for his seed after him.
