The Lantern

Ephesians2

Alive with Christ

And you, being dead in your trespasses and sins,

in which you once walked according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience;

among whom we also all once lived in the desires of our flesh, doing the wills of the flesh and of the minds; and we were by nature children of wrath, as also the rest.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,

even when we were dead in the trespasses, made us alive together with the Christ — by grace you have been saved —

and raised us up together and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

so that in the ages that are coming he might display the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this not of yourselves — it is the gift of God,

not of works, so that no one may boast.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we might walk in them.

One in Christ

Therefore remember that you, once the Gentiles in flesh — the ones called uncircumcision by what is called circumcision, made by hands in flesh —

that you were at that time apart from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of the Christ.

For he himself is our peace, who made both one and broke down the middle wall of the fence,

having abolished in his flesh the enmity, the law of the commandments in decrees, so that he might create the two in himself into one new man, making peace,

and might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the enmity by it.

And having come, he evangelized peace to you who were far off and peace to those near;

because through him we both have the access in one Spirit to the Father.

Christ Our Cornerstone

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens of the saints and of the household of God,

having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,

in whom all the building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,

in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
