Now Jerichowas straitlyshut upbecauseof the childrenof Israel:none went out,and none came in.
And the LORD said to Joshua, See, I have given into your hand Jericho, and its king, and the mighty men of valor.
And you shall compassthe city, allyoumenof war, andgo round aboutthe cityonce. Thus shall you dosixdays.
And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day you shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
And it shall happen, that when they make a longblastwith the ram’shorn, andwhen you hearthe soundof the trumpet, all the peopleshall shoutwith a greatshout;and the wallof the cityshall fall downflat, and the peopleshall ascend upevery manstraight before him.
And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD.
And he saidto the people,Pass on,and compassthe city, and let him that is armedpass onbeforethe arkof the LORD.
And it happened, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.
And the armedmen wentbeforethe prieststhat blewwith the trumpets, and the rerewardcameafterthe ark,the priestsgoing on,and blowingwith the trumpets.
And Joshuahad commandedthe people, saying,You shall not shout, nor make any noisewith your voice, neither shallanywordproceedout of your mouth, until the dayI bidyou shout;then shall you shout.
So the arkof the LORDsurroundedthe city, going aboutitonce:and they cameinto the camp, and lodgedin the camp.
And Joshuarose earlyin the morning, and the prieststook upthe arkof the LORD.
And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
And the seconddaythey surroundedthe cityonce, and returnedinto the camp:so they didsixdays.
And it happened on the seventhday, that they rose earlyabout the dawningof the day,and surroundedthe cityafter the same mannerseventimes:only on that daythey surroundedthe cityseventimes.
And it happened at the seventhtime, when the priestsblewwith the trumpets,Joshuasaidto the people,Shout;for the LORDhas givenyou the city.
And the cityshall be accursed, evenit, and all thataretherein, to the LORD:only Rahabthe prostituteshall live, she and all thatarewith her in the house, because she hidthe messengersthat we sent.
And you, in any wisekeepyourselvesfrom the accursed thing, lest you makeyourselvesaccursed, when you takeof the accursed thing, and makethe campof Israela curse, and troubleit.
But all the silver, and gold, and vesselsof bronzeand iron, areconsecratedto the LORD:they shall comeinto the treasuryof the LORD.
So the peopleshoutedwhenthe priestsblewwith the trumpets:and it happened, when the peopleheardthe soundof the trumpet, and the peopleshoutedwith a greatshout, that the wallfell down flat,so that the peoplewent upinto the city, every manstraight before him, and they tookthe city.
And they utterly destroyedall thatwasin the city, both manand woman, youngand old,and ox,and sheep, and donkey, with the edgeof the sword.
But Joshuahad saidto the twomenthat had spied outthe country,Gointo the prostitute’shouse, and bring outfrom there the woman, and all that she has, as you sworeto her.
And the young menthat were spieswent in,and brought outRahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brothers, and all that she had; and they brought outall her kindred, and leftthem withoutthe campof Israel.
And they burntthe citywith fire, and all thatwastherein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vesselsof bronzeand of iron, they putinto the treasuryof the houseof the LORD.
And JoshuasavedRahabthe prostitutealive, and her father’shousehold, and all that she had; and she dwellsinIsraelevento this day;because she hidthe messengers, which Joshuasentto spy outJericho.
And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that rises up and builds this city Jericho: he shall lay its foundation in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
So the LORDwas with Joshua;and his famewasnoisedthroughout all the country.
