And Aaronsaidto them, Break offthe goldenearrings, whicharein the earsof your wives,of your sons, and of your daughters, and bringthem to me.

And Mosesbeggedthe LORDhis God,and said,LORD,why does your wrathwax hotagainst your people, which you have brought forthout of the landof Egyptwith greatpower, and with a mightyhand?
Why should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people.
RememberAbraham,Isaac, and Israel, your servants,to whom you sworeby your own self, and saidto them, I will multiplyyour seedas the starsof heaven, and all this landthat I have spokenof will I giveto your seed, and they shall inherititfor ever.
And the LORDrepentedof the evilwhich he thoughtto doto his people.

And Aaronsaid,Let not the angerof my lordwax hot:you knowthe people, that theyare seton mischief.
For they saidto me, Makeus gods, which shall gobeforeus: foras forthis Moses, the manthat brought us upout of the landof Egypt,we knownot what is become of him.
And I saidto them, Whoever has any gold, let them breakitoff. So they gaveitme: then I castit into the fire, and there came outthis calf.
