The Lantern

Revelation of John2

To the Church in Ephesus

To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These things says the one holding the seven stars in his right hand, who is walking in the midst of the seven golden lampstands:

I know your works and the labor and your endurance, and that you are not able to tolerate evil ones. And you have tested those saying themselves apostles and are not, and you have found them false.

And you have endurance, and you endured for the sake of my name, and you have not grown weary.

But I have against you that you have abandoned your first love.

Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and perform the first works; and if not, I am coming to you, and I will remove your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent.

But this you have, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I myself also hate.

The one having an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one overcoming, I will give to him to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

To the Church in Smyrna

And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These things says the First and the Last, who became dead and came to life:

I know your tribulation and the poverty — but you are rich — and the slander from those claiming themselves to be Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

Fear nothing that you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

The one having an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one overcoming will certainly not be injured by the second death.

To the Church in Pergamum

And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These things says the one having the sharp two-edged sword:

I know where you dwell, where the throne of Satan is; and you hold fast to my name, and you have not denied my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.

But I have a few things against you, because you have some there holding the teaching of Balaam, who was teaching Balak to cast a snare before the sons of Israel, to eat idol-sacrifices and to commit sexual immorality.

So you also have some holding the teaching of the Nicolaitans likewise.

Repent therefore; and if not, I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of my mouth.

The one having an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one overcoming, I will give to him of the manna which is hidden, and I will give to him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows except the one receiving it.

To the Church in Thyatira

And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These things says the Son of God, the one having his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet like burnished bronze:

I know your works and the love and the faith and the service and your endurance, and your works, the latter greater than the first.

But I have against you that you permit the woman Jezebel, the one calling herself a prophetess, and she teaches and misleads my servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat idol-sacrifices.

And I have given her time that she may repent, and she is not willing to repent of her sexual immorality.

Behold, I cast her into a sickbed, and those committing adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds.

And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches will know that I myself am the one searching kidneys and hearts; and I will give to each of you according to your works.

But to you I say, to the rest of those in Thyatira, as many as do not have this teaching, who have not known the deeps of Satan, as they say: I do not cast upon you any other burden,

but hold fast to what you have until such time as I may come.

And the one overcoming and who is keeping my works until the end, I will give to him authority over the nations,

and he will shepherd them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken in pieces, as I myself also have received from my Father;

and I will give to him the morning star.

The one having an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
