The Lantern

Psalms86

A prayer of David. Stretch out your ear, LORD; answer me, for I am afflicted and needy.

Tried but Trusting

Keep my soul, for I am loyal; save your servant — you are my God — who trusts in you.

Be gracious to me, Lord, for to you I call all the day.

Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, Lord, I lift up my soul.

For you, Lord, are good and forgiving, and abundant in loyal love to all who call on you.

Give ear, LORD, to my prayer, and attend to the voice of my pleas for grace.

In the day of my distress I call on you, for you will answer me.

There is none like you among the gods, Lord, and there is nothing like your works.

All nations that you have made will come and bow down before you, Lord, and they will honor your name.

For you are great and do wonders; you alone are God.

Teach me, LORD, your way; I will walk in your faithfulness. Unite my heart to fear your name.

I will give you thanks, Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will honor your name forever.

For your loyal love is great toward me, and you have rescued my soul from the depths of Sheol.

God, the presumptuous have risen against me, and a company of ruthless men have sought my life, and they have not set you before them.

But you, Lord, are a God compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loyal love and faithfulness.

Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your maidservant.

Do with me a sign for good, and let those who hate me see and be ashamed, for you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.
