The Lantern

Psalms66

To the choirmaster. A song. A psalm. Shout to God, all the earth!

Make a Joyful Noise

Make music to the glory of his name; make his praise glorious.

Say to God, “How fearful are your deeds! Because of the abundance of your strength your enemies cringe before you.”

All the earth will bow down to you and make music to you; they will make music to your name. Selah.

Come and see the works of God, fearful in his dealing toward the sons of man.

He turned the sea into dry land; they crossed the river on foot. There we rejoiced in him —

he who rules by his might forever, whose eyes keep watch on the nations. Let the rebellious not exalt themselves. Selah.

Bless our God, you peoples, and make the voice of his praise heard,

who has placed our soul among the living and has not let our foot slip.

For you have tested us, God; you have refined us as silver is refined.

You brought us into the net; you put a crushing weight on our loins.

You made men ride over our head; we went into fire and into water, and you brought us out to abundance.

I will come to your house with burnt offerings; I will fulfill my vows to you,

which my lips opened and my mouth spoke in my distress.

Burnt offerings of fatlings I will offer up to you, with the smoke of rams; I will prepare cattle with male goats. Selah.

Come, listen, and I will recount, all you who fear God, what he has done for my soul.

To him I called with my mouth, and exaltation was under my tongue.

If I had seen iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.

Yet God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.

Blessed be God, who has not turned aside my prayer or his loyal love from me.
