The Lantern

Psalms27

Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

The LORD Is My Salvation

When evildoers drew near against me to eat my flesh — my foes and my enemies against me — they stumbled and fell.

If a camp encamps against me, my heart will not fear; if war rises against me, in this I am trusting.

One thing I have asked from the LORD; it I will seek: my dwelling in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the pleasantness of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.

For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of evil; he will conceal me in the covering of his tent; on a rock he will lift me high.

And now my head will be lifted above my enemies around me, and I will sacrifice in his tent sacrifices with a shout; I will sing and make music to the LORD.

Hear, LORD, my voice when I call; be gracious to me and answer me.

To you my heart has said, “Seek my face.” Your face, LORD, I will seek.

Do not hide your face from me; do not turn your servant away in anger. You have been my help; do not abandon me and do not forsake me, God of my salvation.

For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will gather me in.

Teach me, LORD, your way, and lead me on a level path, because of those who watch me.

Do not give me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses have risen against me, and one who breathes out violence.

Unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living —

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart be courageous; and wait for the LORD.
