The Triumphant Messiah
Why have the nations raged, and the peoples murmured emptiness?
The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers have sat together, against the LORD and against his anointed:
“Let us tear off their bonds, and cast their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord mocks at them.
Then he speaks to them in his anger, and in his burning wrath he dismays them:
“And I — I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”
Let me recount the decree. The LORD said to me: “You are my son; I today have begotten you.
Ask of me, and I will give the nations as your inheritance, and the ends of the earth as your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron; like a potter’s vessel you shall shatter them.”
And now, O kings, be wise; be warned, O judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the son, lest he be angry and you perish on the way — for his anger kindles quickly. Happy are all who take refuge in him.
