Proverbs28

The Boldness of the Righteous

The wicked flee and there is no pursuer, but the righteous are confident like a young lion.

By the transgression of a land its princes are many, but by a man who understands, who knows, it is prolonged.

A poor man who oppresses the poor is a sweeping rain and there is no bread.

Those who forsake instruction praise the wicked, but those who keep instruction contend with them.

Men of evil do not understand judgment, but those who seek the LORD understand everything.

Better a poor man who walks in his integrity than one crooked in ways, and he is rich.

One who guards instruction is a son who understands, but a companion of gluttons shames his father.

One who increases his wealth by interest and increase gathers it for one who is gracious to the poor.

One who turns away his ear from hearing instruction — even his prayer is an abomination.

One who leads the upright astray in an evil way will fall into his own pit, but the blameless will inherit good.

A rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who understands searches him out.

When the righteous exult there is great beauty, but when the wicked rise, a man is searched out.

One who covers his transgressions will not prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will be shown compassion.

Happy is the man who dreads continually, but one who hardens his heart will fall into evil.

A growling lion and a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

A prince who lacks insight is great in oppressions, but one who hates unjust gain will prolong days.

A man burdened with the blood of a soul will flee to the pit; let no one hold him up.

One who walks blameless will be saved, but one crooked in ways will fall at once.

One who works his ground will be filled with bread, but one who pursues empty things will be filled with poverty.

A man of faithfulness abounds in blessings, but one who hurries to be rich will not go unpunished.

Recognizing faces is not good, and for a morsel of bread a man will transgress.

A man evil of eye hurries after wealth, and he does not know that want will come to him.

One who rebukes a man afterward will find grace, more than one who makes the tongue smooth.

One who robs his father and his mother and says, “It is no transgression” — he is a companion to a man who destroys.

One broad of soul stirs up discord, but one who trusts in the LORD will be made fat.

One who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom — he will escape.

One who gives to the poor has no want, but one who hides his eyes has many curses.

When the wicked rise, a man hides himself, but when they perish, the righteous increase.
