Proverbs21

The King’s Heart

The heart of a king is streams of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he delights.

Every way of a man is straight in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs hearts.

Doing righteousness and judgment is chosen by the LORD more than sacrifice.

Haughtiness of eyes and breadth of heart — the tillage of the wicked is sin.

The thoughts of the diligent are only to profit, but everyone who hurries, only to want.

Making treasures by a tongue of falsehood is a driven breath — those who seek death.

The violence of the wicked drags them away, for they refuse to do judgment.

The way of a guilty man is crooked, but the pure — his work is upright.

Better to dwell on a corner of the roof than with a woman of discords and a house shared.

The soul of a wicked man craves evil; his neighbor finds no grace in his eyes.

When a scoffer is punished the simple becomes wise, and when a wise man is given good sense he receives knowledge.

A righteous one acts with good sense toward the house of the wicked, overturning the wicked to evil.

One who shuts his ear from the outcry of the poor — he also will call and not be answered.

A gift in secret subdues anger, and a bribe in the bosom, strong rage.

Doing judgment is gladness to the righteous, but ruin to the workers of iniquity.

A man who wanders from the way of good sense will rest in the assembly of the shades.

One who loves gladness is a man of want; one who loves wine and oil will not become rich.

The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, and the treacherous in the place of the upright.

Better to dwell in a wilderness land than with a woman of discords and vexation.

Desirable treasure and oil are in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man swallows it.

One who pursues righteousness and loyal love will find life, righteousness, and honor.

A wise man goes up against the city of the mighty and brings down the strength of its confidence.

One who keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from distresses.

Insolent, haughty — Scoffer is his name, one who acts in the fury of insolence.

The craving of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to work.

All the day he craves a craving, but the righteous gives and does not hold back.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination — how much more when he brings it with a scheme!

A witness of lies will perish, but a man who listens will speak forever.

A wicked man makes his face bold, but the upright — he understands his way.

There is no wisdom and no insight and no counsel against the LORD.

A horse is prepared for the day of battle, but salvation belongs to the LORD.
