Proverbs14

The Wise Woman

The wisest of women builds her house, but folly tears it down with her own hands.

One who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD, but one devious in his ways despises him.

In the mouth of a stubborn fool is a rod of pride, but the lips of the wise will guard them.

Where there are no cattle the manger is clean, but much produce comes by the strength of an ox.

A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness breathes out lies.

A scoffer seeks wisdom and there is none, but knowledge is easy for the understanding one.

Go from before a foolish man, for you will not know lips of knowledge.

The wisdom of the shrewd is to understand his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

Stubborn fools scoff at guilt, but among the upright there is favor.

The heart knows its own bitterness, and a stranger does not share in its gladness.

The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.

There is a way that is straight before a man, but its end is the ways of death.

Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of gladness is grief.

One turned back of heart will be filled from his own ways, and a good man from what is above him.

The simple believes every word, but the shrewd understands his step.

A wise man fears and turns from evil, but a fool rages on and is confident.

One quick to anger does folly, and a man of schemes is hated.

The simple inherit folly, but the shrewd are crowned with knowledge.

Evil men bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

Even by his neighbor the poor man is hated, but many are those who love the rich.

One who despises his neighbor sins, but happy is he who is gracious to the afflicted.

Do not those who plot evil go astray? But loyal love and faithfulness are for those who plot good.

In all toil there is profit, but a word of the lips is only to want.

The crown of the wise is their riches; the folly of fools is folly.

A witness of truth delivers souls, but one who breathes out lies is deceit.

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence, and for his sons there will be a refuge.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to turn from the snares of death.

In a multitude of people is the splendor of a king, but in the ceasing of a nation is the ruin of a prince.

One slow to anger has much insight, but one short of spirit carries off folly.

A heart of healing is the life of the flesh, but jealousy is rot to the bones.

One who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, but one who is gracious to the needy honors him.

By his own evil the wicked is thrust down, but the righteous takes refuge in his death.

In the heart of the understanding one wisdom rests, but in the midst of fools it is made known.

Righteousness lifts up a nation, but sin is a disgrace to peoples.

The favor of a king is toward a servant who acts with good sense, but his wrath is toward one who brings shame.
