Righteousness through Faith in Christ

Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is not troublesome to me, and for you it is safe.

Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the mutilation;

for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and boast in Christ Jesus and have not put confidence in the flesh,

though I myself have confidence even in the flesh. If any other thinks to have confidence in the flesh, I more:

circumcised on the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; according to the law, a Pharisee;

according to zeal, persecuting the church; according to the righteousness that is in the law, having become faultless.

But whatever things were gain to me, these I have counted loss because of Christ.

But rather I also count all things to be loss because of the excelling worth of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, because of whom I have lost all things and count them rubbish, so that I may gain Christ

and may be found in him, not having my own righteousness that is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness that is of God on the basis of faith,

to know him and the power of his resurrection and the partnership of his sufferings, being conformed to his death,

if somehow I may attain to the resurrection that is out from the dead.

Pressing on toward the Goal

Not that I already obtained it or have already been perfected, but I pursue it, if even I may grasp that for which also I was grasped by Christ Jesus.

Brothers, I do not reckon myself to have grasped it; but one thing: forgetting the things behind and reaching forward to the things ahead,

I press on toward the goal, for the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus.

As many therefore as are mature, let us think this; and if you think anything differently, God will reveal even this to you.

Nevertheless, in what we have attained, let us walk by the same.

Citizenship in Heaven

Be imitators together of me, brothers, and look to those who walk thus, just as you have us for a pattern.

For many walk — of whom I was often telling you, and now tell you even weeping — as the enemies of the cross of Christ,

whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly and whose glory is in their shame, who think earthly things.

For our citizenship exists in the heavens, from where also we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

who will transform the body of our humiliation, conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
