The Builders of the Walls
Then Eliashib the high priest rose up, and his brothers the priests, and they built the Sheep Gate. They consecrated it, and set up its doors; and as far as the Tower of the Hundred they consecrated it, as far as the Tower of Hananel.
And beside him the men of Jericho built; and beside him Zaccur the son of Imri built.
And the Fish Gate the sons of Hassenaah built; they roofed it, and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars.
And beside them Meremoth the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, repaired; and beside them Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel, repaired; and beside them Zadok the son of Baana repaired.
And beside them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles did not bring their neck into the service of their lords.
And the Old Gate Joiada the son of Paseah repaired, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they roofed it, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars.
And beside them Melatiah the Gibeonite repaired, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, belonging to the seat of the governor of Beyond the River.
Beside him Uzziel the son of Harhaiah repaired, of the goldsmiths; and beside him Hananiah repaired, of the perfumers; and they restored Jerusalem as far as the Broad Wall.
And beside them Rephaiah the son of Hur repaired, the officer of half the district of Jerusalem.
And beside them Jedaiah the son of Harumaph repaired, opposite his own house; and beside him Hattush the son of Hashabneiah repaired.
A second section Malchijah the son of Harim repaired, and Hasshub the son of Pahath-moab, and the Tower of the Ovens.
And beside him Shallum the son of Hallohesh repaired, the officer of half the district of Jerusalem — he and his daughters.
The Valley Gate Hanun repaired, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars, and a thousand cubits of the wall, as far as the Dung Gate.
And the Dung Gate Malchijah the son of Rechab repaired, the officer of the district of Beth-haccherem; he built it, and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars.
And the Spring Gate Shallun the son of Col-hozeh repaired, the officer of the district of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars — and the wall of the Pool of Shelah by the King’s Garden, and as far as the steps that go down from the City of David.
After him Nehemiah the son of Azbuk repaired, the officer of half the district of Beth-zur, as far as opposite the graves of David, and as far as the pool that was made, and as far as the House of the Mighty Men.
After him the Levites repaired: Rehum the son of Bani. Beside him Hashabiah repaired, the officer of half the district of Keilah, for his district.
After him their brothers repaired: Bavvai the son of Henadad, the officer of half the district of Keilah.
And beside him Ezer the son of Jeshua repaired, the officer of Mizpah, a second section, opposite the ascent to the armory at the Angle.
After him Baruch the son of Zabbai burned with zeal and repaired a second section, from the Angle as far as the doorway of the house of Eliashib the high priest.
After him Meremoth the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, repaired a second section, from the doorway of the house of Eliashib as far as the end of the house of Eliashib.
And after him the priests repaired, the men of the plain.
After him Benjamin and Hasshub repaired, opposite their house. After him Azariah the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, repaired beside his own house.
After him Binnui the son of Henadad repaired a second section, from the house of Azariah as far as the Angle, and as far as the corner.
Palal the son of Uzai, opposite the Angle and the tower projecting from the upper house of the king, which belongs to the court of the guard. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.
And the temple servants were living on the Ophel, as far as opposite the Water Gate to the east, and the projecting tower.
After them the Tekoites repaired a second section, opposite the great projecting tower, and as far as the wall of the Ophel.
Above the Horse Gate the priests repaired, each opposite his own house.
After them Zadok the son of Immer repaired, opposite his own house. And after him Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah repaired, the keeper of the East Gate.
After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah repaired, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, a second section. After him Meshullam the son of Berechiah repaired, opposite his chamber.
After him Malchijah, of the goldsmiths, repaired as far as the house of the temple servants and of the traders, opposite the Muster Gate, and as far as the upper chamber of the corner.
And between the upper chamber of the corner and the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and the traders repaired.
