Aaron’s First Offerings
And it happened on the eighth day that Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel,
and he said to Aaron, “Take for yourself a calf of the herd for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, both without blemish, and bring them near before the LORD.
And to the sons of Israel you shall speak: ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both a year old and without blemish, for a burnt offering;
and an ox and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD; and a grain offering mixed with oil. For today the LORD will appear to you.’”
And they took what Moses had commanded to the front of the Tent of Meeting; and all the congregation came near and stood before the LORD.
And Moses said, “This is the thing that the LORD has commanded you to do — and the glory of the LORD will appear to you.”
And Moses said to Aaron, “Come near to the altar, and offer your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people; and offer the people’s offering, and make atonement for them — as the LORD has commanded.”
And Aaron came near to the altar, and slaughtered the calf of the sin offering that was for himself.
And the sons of Aaron brought the blood to him; and he dipped his finger in the blood and put it on the horns of the altar, and the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar.
And the fat and the kidneys and the lobe of the liver from the sin offering he turned into smoke on the altar — as the LORD had commanded Moses.
But the flesh and the skin he burned with fire outside the camp.
And he slaughtered the burnt offering; and the sons of Aaron handed him the blood, and he threw it against the altar all around.
And they handed him the burnt offering piece by piece, with the head; and he turned them into smoke on the altar.
And he washed the inner parts and the legs, and turned them into smoke on top of the burnt offering on the altar.
And he brought near the people’s offering: he took the goat of the sin offering that was for the people, and slaughtered it, and offered it for sin, like the first one.
And he brought near the burnt offering, and prepared it according to the judgment.
And he brought near the grain offering, and filled his palm from it, and turned it into smoke on the altar — besides the burnt offering of the morning.
And he slaughtered the ox and the ram, the sacrifice of peace offerings that was for the people; and the sons of Aaron handed him the blood, and he threw it against the altar all around;
and the fat portions of the ox and of the ram — the fat tail, and what covers the inner parts, and the kidneys, and the lobe of the liver —
and they set the fat portions on the breasts, and he turned the fat portions into smoke on the altar.
But the breasts and the right thigh Aaron waved as a wave offering before the LORD — as Moses had commanded.
And Aaron lifted his hands toward the people and blessed them; and he came down from offering the sin offering and the burnt offering and the peace offerings.
And Moses and Aaron went into the Tent of Meeting; and they came out and blessed the people — and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people.
And fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And all the people saw it, and they shouted for joy, and fell on their faces.
