The Place of Sacrifice
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
“Speak to Aaron and to his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, and say to them: This is the thing that the LORD has commanded:
Any man of the house of Israel who slaughters an ox or a lamb or a goat in the camp, or who slaughters it outside the camp,
and does not bring it to the door of the Tent of Meeting, to bring near an offering to the LORD before the Dwelling of the LORD — blood shall be counted to that man; he has shed blood, and that man shall be cut off from the midst of his people.
This is so that the sons of Israel may bring their sacrifices that they are sacrificing in the open field — that they may bring them to the LORD, to the door of the Tent of Meeting, to the priest, and sacrifice them as sacrifices of peace offerings to the LORD.
And the priest shall throw the blood against the altar of the LORD at the door of the Tent of Meeting, and turn the fat into smoke, for a soothing aroma to the LORD.
And they shall no longer sacrifice their sacrifices to the goat demons after which they whore. This shall be a statute forever for them, throughout their generations.
And you shall say to them: Any man of the house of Israel, or of the sojourners who sojourn in their midst, who offers up a burnt offering or a sacrifice,
and does not bring it to the door of the Tent of Meeting to offer it to the LORD — that man shall be cut off from his people.
Laws against Eating Blood
And any man of the house of Israel, or of the sojourners who sojourn in their midst, who eats any blood — I will set my face against the soul who eats the blood, and I will cut her off from the midst of her people.
For the soul of the flesh is in the blood, and I myself have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls — for it is the blood that makes atonement by the soul.
Therefore I have said to the sons of Israel: No soul among you shall eat blood, and the sojourner who sojourns in your midst shall not eat blood.
And any man of the sons of Israel, or of the sojourners who sojourn in their midst, who hunts down any wild animal or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust.
For the soul of all flesh — its blood is its soul. And I have said to the sons of Israel: You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the soul of all flesh is its blood; everyone who eats it shall be cut off.
And every soul who eats what dies of itself or what is torn by beasts, whether native or sojourner, shall wash his garments and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening — then he shall be clean.
But if he does not wash them and does not bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.”
