Joshua16

Ephraim’s Inheritance

And the lot went out for the sons of Joseph from the Jordan by Jericho, at the waters of Jericho on the east, into the wilderness that goes up from Jericho into the hill country to Bethel;

and it went out from Bethel to Luz, and passed on to the border of the Archite at Ataroth,

and went down westward to the border of the Japhletite, as far as the border of lower Beth-horon, and as far as Gezer; and its limits were at the sea.

And the sons of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.

And the border of the sons of Ephraim, by their families, was this: the border of their inheritance on the east was Ataroth-addar, as far as upper Beth-horon;

and the border went out westward, with Michmethath on the north; and the border turned about eastward to Taanath-shiloh, and passed along it on the east to Janoah;

and it went down from Janoah to Ataroth and to Naarah, and touched Jericho, and went out at the Jordan.

From Tappuah the border goes westward to the Brook of Kanah, and its limits were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, by their families —

together with the cities set apart for the sons of Ephraim in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

But they did not dispossess the Canaanite who lived in Gezer; and the Canaanite has lived in the midst of Ephraim to this day, and has become forced labor.
