Jeremiah’s Message to Baruch

The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch son of Neriah when he wrote these words in a book from the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying:

Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning you, Baruch.

You said: Woe now to me, for the LORD has added sorrow to my pain. I am weary in my groaning, and rest I have not found.

Thus you will say to him: Thus says the LORD: See, what I built I am demolishing, and what I planted I am uprooting — and it is the whole land.

And you — you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For see, I am bringing evil on all flesh — the utterance of the LORD — and I will give you your soul as spoil in all the places where you go.
