Jeremiah30

The Restoration of Israel and Judah

The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying:

Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, saying: Write for yourself all the words I have spoken to you in a book.

For see, days are coming — the utterance of the LORD — when I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel and Judah, says the LORD; and I will bring them back to the land I gave to their fathers, and they will possess it.

And these are the words that the LORD spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah.

For thus says the LORD: A voice of shuddering we have heard — dread, and there is no peace.

Ask now and see whether a male gives birth. Why then have I seen every man with his hands on his loins like a woman giving birth, and all faces turned to greenness?

Woe! For that day is great, with none like it; and it is a time of distress for Jacob — but from it he will be saved.

And it will be in that day — the utterance of the LORD of hosts — I will break his yoke from off your neck and tear off your bonds, and strangers will no longer make him serve.

And they will serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.

And you — do not fear, my servant Jacob — the utterance of the LORD — and do not be shattered, Israel; for see, I am saving you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity. And Jacob will return and be quiet and at ease, with none making him afraid.

For I am with you — the utterance of the LORD — to save you. Though I make a full end of all the nations where I scattered you, of you I will not make a full end. But I will discipline you for judgment, and I will surely not hold you innocent.

For thus says the LORD: Your breaking is incurable, your blow is sick.

There is no one to judge your case, for a sore; remedies of mending you have none.

All your lovers have forgotten you; they do not seek you. For with the blow of an enemy I have struck you, the discipline of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity — your sins are many.

Why do you cry out over your breaking? Your pain is incurable. For the greatness of your iniquity — your sins are many — I have done these to you.

Therefore all who devour you will be devoured, and all your adversaries, all of them, will go into captivity; and those who plunder you will be plunder, and all who despoil you I will give as spoil.

For I will bring up recovery for you, and from your blows I will heal you — the utterance of the LORD — because they called you an Outcast: This is Zion, whom no one seeks.

Thus says the LORD: See, I am restoring the fortunes of the tents of Jacob, and on his dwellings I will have compassion; and the city will be built on its mound, and the citadel will sit according to its judgment.

And out of them will go thanksgiving and the voice of merrymakers. And I will multiply them, and they will not be few; and I will make them weighty, and they will not be small.

And his sons will be as of old, and his congregation will be established before my face; and I will attend to all who press hard on him.

And his noble will be from him, and his ruler will go out from his midst; and I will bring him near, and he will approach me. For who is this who has pledged his heart to approach me? — the utterance of the LORD.

And you will be a people to me, and I will be God to you.

See, the storm of the LORD — wrath has gone out, a gathering storm; on the head of the wicked it will whirl.

The burning anger of the LORD will not return until he has done and until he has raised up the schemes of his heart. In the end of days you will understand it.
