Isaiah55

Invitation to the Needy

Ah, every thirsty one, come to the waters! And the one who has no silver — come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without silver and without price.

Why do you weigh out silver for what is not bread, and your labor for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in rich food.

Incline your ear and come to me; hear, and your soul will live. And I will cut with you an everlasting covenant — the faithful loyal loves of David.

See, I gave him as a witness to peoples, a leader and commander of peoples.

See, a nation you do not know you will call, and a nation that did not know you will run to you — because of the LORD your God, and for the Holy One of Israel, for he has made you beautiful.

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the man of iniquity his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD, and he will have compassion on him; and to our God, for he abundantly forgives.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways — the utterance of the LORD.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain and the snow come down from the heavens and do not return there, but water the earth and make it give birth and sprout, and give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

so will my word be that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will do what I delighted in, and will succeed in what I sent it for.

For with gladness you will go out, and in peace you will be led. The mountains and the hills will break out before you in singing, and all the trees of the field will clap the hand.

Instead of the thornbush a cypress will come up, and instead of the nettle a myrtle will come up. And it will be for the LORD a name, an everlasting sign that will not be cut off.
