Isaiah25

Praise to the Victorious God

LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you, I will give thanks to your name — for you have done a wonder, counsels from far off, faithfulness, sureness.

For you have made a city into a heap, a fortified town into a ruin; the citadel of strangers is no city, forever it will not be rebuilt.

Therefore a fierce people will honor you; the town of ruthless nations will fear you.

For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the downpour, a shade from the heat — for the breath of the ruthless is like a downpour against a wall.

Like heat in a parched place you subdue the uproar of strangers; like heat by the shade of a cloud, the song of the ruthless is brought low.

And the LORD of hosts will make for all the peoples on this mountain a feast of fat things, a feast of aged wines — fat things full of marrow, aged wines well strained.

And he will swallow up on this mountain the face of the shroud, the shroud over all the peoples, and the covering that is spread over all the nations.

He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe the tear from upon every face, and the reproach of his people he will remove from upon all the earth — for the LORD has spoken.

And it will be said in that day: See, this is our God; we have hoped for him, and he saved us. This is the LORD; we have hoped for him. Let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain; and Moab will be trodden down where he is, as straw is trodden down in the water of a dung pit.

And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it as a swimmer spreads out to swim; and he will bring low his pride together with the tricks of his hands.

And the fortification of the height of your walls he has brought down, laid low, made to touch the earth, down to the dust.
