I Timothy6

Serving with Honor

As many as are slaves under a yoke, let them count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be blasphemed.

And those having believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brothers, but rather let them serve, because those being helped by the good service are believing and beloved. Teach these things and encourage.

Reject False Doctrines

If anyone teaches other doctrine and does not draw near to sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the teaching according to godliness,

he has been puffed up, knowing nothing but being unhealthy about controversies and disputes about words, out of which come envy, strife, slanders, evil suspicions,

and constant frictions among men corrupted in mind and defrauded of the truth, holding godliness to be a means of gain.

Godliness with Contentment

But godliness with contentment is great gain;

for we brought nothing into the world, because neither are we able to carry anything out.

But having sustenance and coverings, with these we will be content.

But those desiring to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge men into ruin and destruction;

for a root of all the evils is the love of money, stretching after which some were led astray from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

Fight the Good Fight

But you, O man of God, flee these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.

Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold of the eternal life to which you were called and confessed the good confession before many witnesses.

I charge you before God, who gives life to all things, and Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate,

that you keep the commandment without stain, above reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

which in its own seasons he will display — the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of those who are kings and Lord of those who are lords,

who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no one of men has seen nor is able to see, to whom be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.

A Charge to the Rich

Charge those rich in the present age not to be high-minded, nor to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches but on God, who provides us all things richly for enjoyment;

to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous in distributing, ready to share,

treasuring up for themselves a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

Guard the Faith

O Timothy, guard the deposit committed to you, avoiding the profane empty babblings and opposing arguments of knowledge falsely so called,

which some, professing, have gone astray concerning the faith. Grace be with you.
