I Chronicles5

The Descendants of Reuben

And the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel — for he was the firstborn, but when he defiled the bed of his father, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel, though not so as to be enrolled in the genealogy for the birthright;

for Judah grew mighty among his brothers, and a leader came from him, but the birthright was Joseph’s —

the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,

Beerah his son — whom Tilgath-pilneser, king of Assyria, exiled; he was a leader of the Reubenites.

And his brothers, by their families, as enrolled in the genealogy by their generations: the head, Jeiel, and Zechariah,

and Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel — he lived in Aroer, and as far as Nebo and Baal-meon.

And eastward he lived as far as the approach to the wilderness from the river Euphrates — for their livestock had multiplied in the land of Gilead.

And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand; and they lived in their tents across the whole east side of Gilead.

The Descendants of Gad

And the sons of Gad lived opposite them, in the land of Bashan, as far as Salecah:

Joel the head, and Shapham the second, and Janai, and Shaphat, in Bashan.

And their brothers, by the houses of their fathers: Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jacan, and Zia, and Eber — seven.

These were the sons of Abihail the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;

Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, was head of the house of their fathers.

And they lived in Gilead, in Bashan and in its daughter-towns, and in all the pasturelands of Sharon, to their farthest limits.

All of them were enrolled in the genealogy in the days of Jotham, king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, king of Israel.

The sons of Reuben, and the Gadite, and the half-tribe of Manasseh — of the sons of valor, men carrying shield and sword, and drawing the bow, and trained for war: forty-four thousand seven hundred and sixty going out to the army.

And they made war with the Hagrites, and Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab.

And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites were given into their hand, with all who were with them — for they cried out to God in the battle, and he was entreated for them, because they trusted in him.

And they carried off their livestock: their camels, fifty thousand, and sheep, two hundred and fifty thousand, and donkeys, two thousand — and human lives, a hundred thousand.

For many fell slain — for the war was from God. And they lived in their place until the exile.

The Half-Tribe of Manasseh

And the sons of the half-tribe of Manasseh lived in the land; they multiplied from Bashan to Baal-hermon, and Senir, and Mount Hermon.

And these were the heads of the houses of their fathers: Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel — men who were mighty men of valor, men of name, heads of the houses of their fathers.

But they broke faith with the God of their fathers, and whored after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.

And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul, king of Assyria — the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser, king of Assyria — and he exiled them — the Reubenite, and the Gadite, and the half-tribe of Manasseh — and brought them to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and the river of Gozan, to this day.
