Twenty-Four Divisions of Priests
And for the sons of Aaron, their divisions. The sons of Aaron: Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
And Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and they had no sons; and Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.
And David divided them — with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar — according to their appointed duty in their service.
And the sons of Eleazar were found more numerous in heads of the men than the sons of Ithamar; so they divided them: for the sons of Eleazar, sixteen heads by the houses of their fathers, and for the sons of Ithamar, by the houses of their fathers, eight.
And they divided them by lots, these together with those — for there were commanders of the holy place and commanders of God from the sons of Eleazar and among the sons of Ithamar.
And Shemaiah the son of Nethanel, the scribe, of the Levites, wrote them down before the king, and the officials, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers of the priests and of the Levites — one father’s house drawn for Eleazar, and one drawn for Ithamar.
And the first lot went out to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,
the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,
the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin,
the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,
the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah,
the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,
the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,
the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,
the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez,
the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel,
the twenty-first to Jachin, the twenty-second to Gamul,
the twenty-third to Delaiah, the twenty-fourth to Maaziah.
These were their appointed duties for their service, to come into the house of the LORD according to their custom, by the hand of Aaron their father — as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.
The Rest of the Levites
And for the rest of the sons of Levi: of the sons of Amram, Shubael; of the sons of Shubael, Jehdeiah.
For Rehabiah: of the sons of Rehabiah, the head, Isshiah.
Of the Izharite: Shelomoth; of the sons of Shelomoth, Jahath.
And the sons of Hebron: Jeriah the head, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.
The sons of Uzziel: Micah; of the sons of Micah, Shamir.
The brother of Micah: Isshiah; of the sons of Isshiah, Zechariah.
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi; the sons of Jaaziah: Beno.
The sons of Merari, by Jaaziah: Beno, and Shoham, and Zaccur, and Ibri.
Of Mahli: Eleazar — and he had no sons.
For Kish, the sons of Kish: Jerahmeel.
And the sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites, by the houses of their fathers.
And they too cast lots, corresponding to their brothers the sons of Aaron, before King David, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the heads of the fathers of the priests and of the Levites — the head father’s house equally with his youngest brother.
