I Chronicles20

The Capture of Rabbah

And it was at the turn of the year, at the time when kings go out, that Joab led out the force of the army and laid waste the land of the sons of Ammon; and he came and besieged Rabbah — but David was staying in Jerusalem. And Joab struck Rabbah and tore it down.

And David took the crown of their king from his head, and found it a talent of gold in weight, and in it a precious stone; and it was set on the head of David. And he brought out the plunder of the city — very much.

And the people who were in it he brought out, and set them to work with the saw, and with iron picks, and with saws. And thus David would do to all the cities of the sons of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

Battles against the Philistines

And it was after this that war arose at Gezer with the Philistines. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite struck down Sippai, one of the descendants of the Rephaim — and they were subdued.

And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair struck down Lahmi, the brother of Goliath the Gittite — and the shaft of his spear was like a weavers’ beam.

And again there was war at Gath; and there was a man of stature, and his fingers and toes were six and six — twenty-four; and he too was born to the Rapha.

And he taunted Israel; and Jonathan the son of Shimea, the brother of David, struck him down.

These were born to the Rapha in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
