David’s Triumphs
And it was after this that David struck down the Philistines and subdued them; and he took Gath and its daughter-towns from the hand of the Philistines.
And he struck down Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, carriers of tribute.
And David struck down Hadadezer, king of Zobah, at Hamath, as he went to establish his hand at the river Euphrates.
And David captured from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but left of them a hundred chariots.
And Aram of Damascus came to help Hadadezer, king of Zobah; and David struck down of Aram twenty-two thousand men.
And David set garrisons in Aram of Damascus; and Aram became servants to David, carriers of tribute. And the LORD saved David wherever he went.
And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much bronze; with it Solomon made the sea of bronze, and the pillars, and the vessels of bronze.
And Tou, king of Hamath, heard that David had struck down all the force of Hadadezer, king of Zobah;
and he sent Hadoram his son to King David, to ask him of his welfare and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him down — for Hadadezer had been a man of wars against Tou — and with him all kinds of vessels of gold, and silver, and bronze.
These too King David consecrated to the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he had carried off from all the nations: from Edom, and from Moab, and from the sons of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
And Abshai the son of Zeruiah struck down of Edom, in the Valley of Salt, eighteen thousand.
And he set garrisons in Edom, and all Edom became servants to David. And the LORD saved David wherever he went.
David’s Officers
And David reigned over all Israel; and he was doing justice and righteousness for all his people.
And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe;
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were the first at the hand of the king.
