II Corinthians3

Ministers of a New Covenant

Are we beginning again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, like some, letters of commendation to you or from you?

You yourselves are our letter, inscribed in our hearts, known and read by all men,

being made manifest that you are a letter of Christ ministered by us, inscribed not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets that are hearts of flesh.

And such confidence we have through the Christ toward God.

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to reckon anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God,

who also made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant, not of letter but of Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

The Glory of the New Covenant

But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came in glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, which was being abolished,

how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more in glory?

For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, much more does the ministry of righteousness abound in glory.

For indeed what has been glorified has not been glorified in this respect, on account of the surpassing glory.

For if what is being abolished was through glory, much more is what remains in glory.

Having therefore such a hope, we use great boldness,

and not as Moses, who was putting a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the end of what was being abolished.

But their thoughts were hardened. For until this present day the same veil remains at the reading of the old covenant, not being lifted, because in Christ it is abolished.

But to this day, whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart;

but whenever one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image, from glory to glory, just as from the Lord the Spirit.
